The Grand 1894 Opera House Holiday Season. Running from November 19 – December 17, 2022, the holiday shows at the Opera House include; A Charlie Brown Christmas: Live On Stage, The Gatlin Brothers, Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, The Nutcracker and The Midtown Men: Holiday Hits.
Christmas Tree Lighting at the Grand Galvez. On November 25, 2022 the iconic Grand Galvez will light its 35-foot Christmas tree and is expecting a visit from Santa. After the tree lighting, you can attend the Galveston Ballet performance of a melody of variations from “The Nutcracker” and the Galveston Symphony Brass Ensemble performing holiday classics.
Holiday Tree Lighting in Downtown Galveston. According to Visit Galveston, “Santa will be a special guest at downtown Galveston’s tree lighting ceremony on Saturday, Nov. 26 at 6 p.m. Galveston’s police and fire departments will provide a special escort for the man in red and Galveston Mayor Craig Brown will provide remarks. The tree lighting coincides with Galveston Art Center’s ArtWalk, a community-wide event that takes place every six to eight weeks. During ArtWalk, shops, boutiques and galleries remain open later into the evening and features live entertainment at several venues throughout the downtown district.”
East End Holiday Homes Tour. On December 2 & 3, 2022, you can tour beautifully decorated Victorian-era homes, listen to carolers, and maybe even see Santa Claus.
Ride On The Polar Express To Meet Santa. This one hour long round trip train ride allows children of all ages to relive the story onboard a real train. Each passenger will leave with their very own golden ticket and sleigh bell.
Attend Dickens On The Strand. This Victorian Era street festival features live entertainment including; carolers, musicians, bagpipers, jugglers, and a crowd of entertainers.
Holiday With The Cranes. This unique holiday experience celebrates the return of the island’s wintering Sandhill Cranes. This weekend event includes indoor and outdoor nature activities on the historic Galveston Island!
Santa Hustle 5K, Half Marathon & Kids Dash. Dubbed one of Galveston’s wackiest events, participants are provided with a Santa suit shirt, Santa hat and beard to wear during the run. The Speakers play holiday tunes along the route and participants can stop at stations serving cookies and candy.

Holiday Delights 2022 | A Texas-Size Christmas at The Bryan Museum. Get your picture taken with Santa, visit the petting zoo and go on an elf hunt. There will be food trucks, crafts, music, free books for kids, a Christmas tree lighting, and there just might be snow!
